Data Analysis & Reporting

This course will discuss the way reliability data is examined and presented on the situation or organization in question. The broad methods of analysis/reporting can, however, be divided into two categories: non-parametric and parametric analysis. Consequently, the analysis and reporting methodologies will need to be tailored to the type of data as well as the target audience. Engineers will be more concerned with parametric analysis, while managers will be more concerned with actual data and non-parametric analytical outcomes. Of course, this is a broad generalization, and if good training has ingrained an understanding of the value of reliability engineering in the organization, all sorts of reliability reports should pique attention at all levels in the organization.

Course Outline

Non-Parametric Analysis
Managers will be interested in this sort of data because it typically does not require any specific technical knowledge to comprehend. Information that hasn’t been or can’t be properly processed or evaluated is suitable for non-parametric analysis. It’s typically just direct reporting of data, or if it’s been modified, it’s generally conducted using basic math and no sophisticated statistical analysis. The fact that most financial data falls into this category is another reason why it is of great importance to managers. The majority of significant business choices are based on non-parametric financial data analysis.

Analysis of Non-Parametric Reliability
The prospect of developing standard reliability metrics, such as product reliability and failure rates, from non-parametric analysis of field data is discussed in this section.

Non- Parametric Tests Reporting
• Wilcoxon tests
• Mann-Whitney
• KRUSKAL-WALLACE

Parametric Analysis
Engineers will be more concerned with parametric analysis. Based on the technique used to obtain the data, data that lends itself to parametric statistical analysis can give highly specific information on the behavior of the product. This is the “uncompromising” dependability data, including all charts, graphs, and predictions that may be used to forecast product behavior in the field. This sort of data is often generated from reliability testing carried out in laboratories dedicated to that purpose. As a result, these data sets will contain far more information than data acquired in the field. Setting up a competent field data collecting program will, of course, improve the quality of the data obtained, but it will seldom be as succinct or thorough as data acquired in-house.

Reporting for Parametric Data Analysis
• Probability Plot
• Reliability Function
• Probability Density Function
• Failure Rate Function
• Likelihood Function
• Life vs. Stress Plot
• Reliability Importance
• Reliability Growth

Training Method

The training will be conducted in a friendly, inclusive and professional atmosphere, which is conducive for different learning styles, but respects each attendee as an individual and ensures each individual is challenged and achieve maximum benefit from the course. Our goal is that attendees will be highly engaged and encouraged to be participative.
